Kaldor Public Art Projects have announced their exciting new exhibition of performance art 13 Rooms, which is set to run in April, 2013.
The fantastic new project brings together 13 famous artists across five continents and more than 70 trained performers to present an innovative group exhibition of ‘living sculpture’ within 13 rooms. The site will be purpose-built on Sydney’s Walsh Bay’s Pier 2/3. Each artist will have one room and use the performers to create a display that viewers become part of on entering.
This ground-breaking event will run for 11 days and has been curated by renowned museum directors and curators Hans Ulrich Obrist, Co-director of London’s Serpentine Gallery, and Klaus Biesenbach, Director of MoMA in New York. The artists include performance art veterans Marina Abramovic and Joan Jonas as well as Tino Sehgal, Santiage Sierra, Simon Fujiwara and duo Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla. The just-announced Australian selection is the young, emerging duo called Clark Beaumont.
