Sydney Theatre Company has announced a killer line-up for 2013, including The Maids, which will star Cate Blanchett and French actress Isabelle Hupert in a fresh take on this dark satire.
Next year’s season also sees a daring and unexpected stage adaptation of the Australian children’s book Storm Boy, as well as a production of the Tom Stoppard classic Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, featuring leading men Toby Schmitz and Tim Minchin.
Plus Hugo Weaving and Richard Roxburgh bring Waiting for Godot to life, under the direction of the award-winning Tamas Ascher (STC’s Uncle Vanya).
The diverse 2013 season emphasises partnerships that are nothing short of inspired, and the co-creative direction of the STC by Andrew Upton and Cate Blanchett for the last few years has been just that. Together they have re-established the company as a strong force in the nation’s cultural landscape, and the 2013 line-up is no exception. Read more about it here.
