Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has passed away after his long battle with cancer at the age of 62. In his memory, STUDIO presents an encore screening of The Bee Gee’s – One Night Only Live in Las Vegas tonight at 6.30pm.
It was in Australia that Robin Gibb and his brothers created the internationally renowned music sensation The Bee Gees. Iconic songs such as Stayin Alive and How Deep Is Your Love shot the band to fame in the 1970’s, selling 200 million records worldwide over four decades.
Gibb, known not only for his part in the Bee Gees, was also a successful songwriter. He penned winning scores and lyrics for Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Celine Dion, Destiny’s Child, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.
BBC broadcaster Paul Gambaccini said Gibb was ”talented beyond even his own understanding. Everyone should be aware that the Bee Gees are second only to Lennon and McCartney as the most successful song writing unit in British popular music” .
