Russian Rock n’ Roll Burlesque. Parties in museums. A 3D art workshop for kids. Comedy about monkeys in space. Sydney’s wacky and wonderful come to life this September.

The Sydney Fringe Festival is the city’s biggest celebration of all things underground, and it begins next Friday, September 7th with a street party in Newtown Square.

The festival, which runs until the 30th September, spans a huge range of unique venues across Sydney, as well as just about every type of performance and art form you can imagine. This year’s innovative line-up includes the fascinating one-man play, Here lies Henry (see the trailer above) and the WA dance show ‘Life in miniature’, performed inside a caravan for an audience of 5 people at a time.

Timeout refers to the festival as “The exposed underbelly of the Sydney arts scene in all its glory”, and tickets are now on sale.
