“This three-part film series presents the life of the greatest artist and engineer the world has ever known. Leonardo da Vinci is shown beyond the stereotypical notion of him as the old man with the beard as the film introduces us to the renowned genius in his boyhood. Dramatic scenes are interwoven with an academic narration, and take us on a journey from his birth near Florence, on his travels through Italy and into the mind of the great inventor. Episode two picks up with Leonardo in Venice. Now aged in his 40s, he’s become obsessed by nature, water and flight. Shunning lucrative commissions, he works on plans for a diving suit and a glider. In between presenting insightful anecdotes from his life at the time, the film crew attempt to build both of his inventions from his complicated plans and put them to the ultimate test. The results are shocking.”
