Over the next few weeks we look at the Fender Stratocaster, the best selling guitar for nearly 60 years, The Frankfurt Kitchen, the first ever mass produced kitchen, and the Black Lamps of Serge Mouille, the lamps that pioneered lighting design.
Fender Stratocaster – Tuesday 21 February 7.30pm
Favoured by guitar heroes including Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd, the Fender Stratocaster has been an iconic item since its creation. Known as one of the classic designs of all time, the “Strat” remains a best-seller after nearly 60 years.
The Frankfurt Kitchen – Tuesday 28 February 7.30pm
A space-efficient and low-cost design by Margarete Schütte Lihotzky in 1926, the Frankfurt Kitchen was developed for low income families in the urban estate of “New Frankfurt”. This innovative design was the first mass-produced kitchen.
Black Lamps Of Serge Mouille – Tuesday 6 March 7.30pm
Serge Mouille pioneered lighting design and found worldwide acclaim for his art. He also dedicated his life to teaching and has been a mentor to many of today’s finest designers.
