Following his shock assassination in 1968, Bobby Kennedy’s body was transported by train from New York to Washington DC for a state funeral.
Photographer Paul Fusco captured the thousands of mourners that lined the train tracks to pay their respects, and this documentary takes a look back at those seminal images of a divided America.
Combining archive imagery and contemporary interviews with many of the people snapped by Fusco on the journey, One Thousand Pictures is a powerful piece of photojournalism, and a deeply moving snapshot of a country whose hopes and dreams of an egalitarian future died with Kennedy’s passing.
