				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Nora Ephron</strong>, screenwriter of iconic films such as <em>When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, </em>and <em>You’ve Got Mail </em>has passed away from leukaemia overnight in New York at the age of 71.</p>
<p>Nominated for three <strong>Oscars</strong>, Ephron began her career as a journalist in her twenties and went on to be a best-selling author and a successful director and producer.</p>
<p>Working alongside Hollywood’s elite including <strong>Billy Crystal</strong>,<strong> Meryl Streep</strong>,<strong> John Travolta</strong>,<strong> Meg Ryan</strong>,<strong> Tom Hanks</strong> and many more, Ephron was among the most quotable and influential writers of her generation.</p>
<p>Known for her witty tongue and passion for <strong>New York</strong>, Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York City, issued a statement saying &#8220;From her earliest days at New York City&#8217;s newspapers to her biggest Hollywood successes, Nora always loved a good New York story, and she could tell them like no one else”.</p>
